STOP #3. 16 Hancock St. Gothic Revival.
This pre-civil war gothic revival cottage was built in 1845 and was recently restored. Inspired by medieval design in the 19th Century, the Gothic Revival movement departed from the classical forms to stress the picturesque and romantic.
The important architectural details of the Gothic revival style include the steeply pitched roof with steep cross gables, and dormers, the windows with pointed arches, the one-story porch, and the pointed sidelights.
